He is the patron of fathers and of the home because he was the faithful guardian of the Holy Family, and is invoked for housing and employment for the same reason — many a family prays to him to find work or a home, as he found shelter and bread for his own. He is the patron of a holy death because, by ancient tradition, he died in the arms of Jesus and Mary, the most blessed of all deathbeds.             "patronageReason": "San Giuseppe è patrono dei lavoratori perché fu lui stesso artigiano: il Vangelo lo chiama téktōn, cioè falegname o carpentiere — l'uomo che costruisce con le mani, che insegnò al Figlio di Dio la dignità del lavoro manuale. Per questa ragione papa Pio XII istituì la festa di San Giuseppe Lavoratore il 1° maggio 1955, rispondendo alla Festa del Lavoro comunista con il patrono celeste dei lavoratori del mondo. È patrono dei padri di famiglia perché custodì, nutrì e protesse Gesù e Maria con una fedeltà silenziosamente eroica — dal faticoso viaggio a Betlemme alla fuga in Egitto, dal ritrovamento del figlio al tempio alla vita nascosta di Nazaret. Lo si invoca per la morte felice perché si ritiene che sia morto assistito da Gesù e Maria, la migliore morte che un cristiano possa sperare; questa tradizione lo rende il patrono naturale di chi è vicino alla fine. Papa Pio IX lo proclamò Patrono della Chiesa Universale nel 1870.",
