2. The Visitation
22/81 – Joyful Mysteries
We contemplate Mary, carrying the Incarnate Word within her, setting out in haste through the hill country to serve her cousin Elizabeth. At her greeting, the unborn John leaps with joy, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, calls her “Blessed among women.”
This mystery teaches charity. Love, real and divine, forgets self and hastens to serve. Mary could have remained to enjoy her privilege alone; instead, she brings Christ to another. Charity is love in motion: the soul’s flight toward the neighbor for God’s sake.
