2. The Scourging at the Pillar
22/81 – Sorrowful Mysteries
We contemplate Jesus bound and scourged by soldiers at Pilate’s order. Though innocent, He bears the punishment of the guilty. He endures humiliation and pain without a word of complaint.
This mystery teaches mortification and purity. The body must serve, not rule, the soul. By discipline and restraint, we cleanse the temple within. Christ’s wounds remind us that purity is strength.
