45:1 Und er ließ aus ihm einen [frommen] Mann hervorgehen, der Gnade fand in den Augen aller Lebenden, geliebt von Gott und den Menschen, Mose, dessen Andenken gesegnet ist.

45:1 Moses was beloved of God, and men: whose memory is in benediction.

45:2 Er verherrlichte ihn wie einen Gott (g) und machte ihn groß durch furchtbare Taten [an den Feinden].

45:2 He made him like the saints in glory, and magnified him in the fear of his enemies, and with his words he made prodigies to cease.

45:3 Auf sein Geheiß ließ er schnell die Zeichen geschehen und machte ihn beherzt vor dem Könige (g). Befehle erteilte er ihm an das Volk und ließ ihn seine Herrlichkeit schauen.

45:3 He glorified him in the sight of kings, and gave him commandments in the sight of his people, and shewed him his glory.

45:4 Wegen seiner Treue und seiner Sanftmut erwählte er ihn aus allen Menschenkindern;

45:4 He sanctified him in his faith, and meekness, and chose him out of all flesh.

45:5 er ließ ihn seine Stimme hören und ließ ihn in das Wolkendunkel treten und legte ihm [vor seinem Angesicht] die Gebote in die Hand (g), das Gesetz des Lebens und der Einsicht, daß er Jakob seinen Bund lehre und die Israeliten seine Rechte und Satzungen.

45:5 For he heard him, and his voice, and brought him into a cloud.

45:6 Und ebenso wie ihn erhöhte er einen Heiligen, nämlich Aaron [seinen Bruder] aus dem Stamme Levi.

45:6 And he gave him commandments before his face, and a law of life and instruction, that he might teach Jacob his covenant, and Israel his judgments.

45:7 Er bestellte ihn zu einem Amte von ewiger Dauer (g) und verlieh ihm das Priestertum im Volk, daß er ihm in Segen diene (g). Er verherrlichte ihn mit seiner Pracht und umgürtete ihn mit herrlicher Pracht (h);

45:7 He exalted Aaron his brother, and like to himself of the tribe of Levi:

45:8 er ließ ihn den ganzen Schmuck anlegen und zierte ihn mit der prächtigen Kleidung, mit den Beinkleidern, dem Leibrock und Schulterkleid.

45:8 He made an everlasting covenant with him, and gave him the priesthood of the nation, and made him blessed in glory,

45:9 Und er brachte daran rings Granatäpfel [aus Gold] an, Glöckchen in Menge ringsum, die einen lieblichen Klang erschallen ließen bei seinen Schritten, um ihren Ton im Tempel hören zu lassen, damit der Kinder seines Volkes gnädig gedacht würde,

45:9 And he girded him about with a glorious girdle, and clothed him with a robe of glory, and crowned him with majestic attire.

45:10 mit der heiligen Gewandung aus Gold und Purpurblau und Purpurrot, in Kunstwirkarbeit, mit dem Brustschild des Urteilsspruches, den Urim und Thummim, mit dem gewobenen Karmesin (h), in Weberarbeit,

45:10 He put upon him a garment to the feet, and breeches, and an ephod, and he compassed him with many little bells of gold all round about,

45:11 mit den Edelsteinen, graviert wie Siegelringe, in der Einfassung von Gold, der Arbeit des Steinschneiders, zur Erinnerung mit eingegrabener Schrift, entsprechend der Zahl der Stämme Israels;

45:11 That as he went there might be a sound, and a noise made that might be heard in the temple, for a memorial to the children of his people.

45:12 dazu die goldene Krone oben am Kopfbund mit der eingeschnittenen Inschrift »dem Herrn geheiligt«, ein herrlicher Schmuck, ein Werk der Pracht, eine Wonne für die Augen und die vollkommenste Schönheit (g).

45:12 He gave him a holy robe of gold, and blue, and purple, a woven work of a wise man, endued with judgment and truth:

45:13 Vorher gab es nichts derartiges, und bis in Ewigkeit darf kein anderer es anlegen, sondern nur einer von seinen Söhnen und dessen Nachkommen nach ihren Geschlechtern (g).

45:13 Of twisted scarlet the work of an artist, with precious stones cut and set in gold, and graven by the work of a lapidary for a memorial, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

45:14 Sein Speisopfer geht gänzlich in Rauch auf, alltäglich als ständiges zweimal.

45:14 And a crown of gold upon his mitre wherein was engraved Holiness, an ornament of honour: a work of power, and delightful to the eyes for its beauty.

45:15 Und Mose füllte seine Hand und salbte ihn mit dem heiligen Öl; und so wurde ihm eine Dienstleistung für alle Zukunft auferlegte und seinen Nachkommen, solange der Himmel steht, daß er ihm dienen und [zugleich] Priester sein solle und sein Volk in seinem Namen segnete.

45:15 Before him there were none so beautiful, even from the beginning.

45:16 Er erwählte ihn aus allen Lebenden, um [dem Herrn] das Brandopfer und die Fettsstücke (g) darzubringen, Rauchwerk und Wohlgeruch als Erinnerungsopfer, und Sühne für sein Volk zu erwirken.

45:16 No stranger was ever clothed with them, but only his children alone, and his grandchildren for ever.

45:17 Und er gab ihm seine Gebote und übertrug ihm die oberste Entscheidung über das Gesetz und das Recht (g), um Jakob seine Zeugnisse zu lehren und Israel in seinem Gesetz zu unterweisen.

45:17 His sacrifices were consumed with fire every day.

45:18 da traten Fremdlinge wider ihn auf und waren eifersüchtig auf ihn in der Wüste, die Anhänger Dathans und Abirams und die Rotte Korahs, in grimmigem Zorn.

45:18 Moses filled his hands and anointed him with holy oil.

45:19 Der Herr aber sah es und geriet in Zorn (g) und vertilgte sie in seines Zornes Glut; er vollbrachte an ihnen Wunderzeichen und verzehrte sie durch flammendes Feuer.

45:19 This was made to him for an everlasting testament, and to his seed as the days of heaven, to execute the office of the priesthood, and to have praise, and to glorify his people in his name.

45:20 Dem Aaron aber mehrte er noch die Ehre und gab ihm seinen Erbbesitz: die Erstlinge der Felderzeugnisse teilte er ihm zur Nahrung zu und hieß ihn die Opfer des Herrn essen;

45:20 He chose him out of all men living, to offer sacrifice to God, incense, and a good savour, for a memorial to make reconciliation for his people:

45:21 die Schaubrote sind sein Anteil und ein Geschenk für ihn und seine Nachkommen.

45:21 And he gave him power in his commandments, in the covenants of his judgments, that he should teach Jacob his testimonies, and give light to Israel in his law.

45:22 Jedoch am Landbesitz des Volkes soll er kein Erbteil haben und inmitten des Volkes keinen Erbbesitz verteilen; denn der Herr selbst ist sein Anteil und sein Erbbesitz unter den Kindern Israel (g).

45:22 And strangers stood up against him, and through envy the men that were with Dathan and Abiron, compassed him about in the wilderness, and the congregation of Core in their wrath.

45:23 Und auch Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, erlangte als dritter Ehre durch seine Tatkraft (g), weil er eiferte für den Gott des Alls und für sein Volk in den Riß trat, weil sein Herz ihn dazu antrieb und er Sühne für Israel erwirkte.

45:23 The Lord God saw and it pleased him not, and they were consumed in his wrathful indignation.

45:24 Darum setzte er auch für ihn eine Rechtsbestimmung fest, einen Friedensbund, daß er Vorsteher des Heiligtums [und seines Volkes] sein sollte, daß ihm und seinen Nachkommen das Hohepriestertum gehören sollte auf ewige Zeiten.

45:24 He wrought wonders upon them, and consumed them with a flame of fire.

45:25 Es bestand aber auch eine Bundesverheißung mit David, dem Sohne Isais, aus dem Stamme Juda: das Erbe des Königs solle einem von seinen Söhnen allein zufallen, ebenso das Erbe Aarons ihm und seinen Nachkommen. [Darum preiset den gütigen Herrn, der euch mit Ehre bekleidet hat!]

45:25 And he added glory to Aaron, and gave him an inheritance, and divided unto him the firstfruits of the increase of the earth.

45:26 Er gebe euch Weisheit des Herzens, sein Volk mit Gerechtigkeit zu richten, damit euer Glück (g) nicht aufhöre und eure Herrschaft bis in die fernsten Zeiten bestehe (g).

45:26 He prepared them bread in the first place unto fulness: for the sacrifices also of the Lord they shall eat, which he gave to him, and to his seed.

45:27 But he shall not inherit among the people in the land, and he hath no portion among the people: for he himself is his portion and inheritance.

45:28 Phinees the son of Eleazar is the third in glory, by imitating him in the fear of the Lord:

45:29 And he stood up in the shameful fall of the people: in the goodness and readiness of his soul he appeased God for Israel.

45:30 Therefore he made to him a covenant of peace, to be the prince of the sanctuary, and of his people, that the dignity of priesthood should be to him and to his seed for ever.

45:31 And a covenant to David the king, the son of Jesse of the tribe of Juda, an inheritance to him and to his seed, that he might give wisdom into our heart to judge his people in justice, that their good things might not be abolished, and he made their glory in their nation everlasting.
