31:1 Dem Musikmeister; ein Psalm von David.

31:1 In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice.

31:2 Bei dir, HERR, suche ich Zuflucht: laß mich nimmer enttäuscht werden! Nach deiner Gerechtigkeit errette mich!

31:2 Bow down thy ear to me: make haste to deliver me. Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me.

31:3 Neige dein Ohr mir zu, eile zu meiner Rettung herbei, sei mir ein schützender Fels, eine feste Burg, mir zu helfen!

31:3 For thou art my strength and my refuge; and for thy name's sake thou wilt lead me, and nourish me.

31:4 Du bist ja doch mein Fels und meine Burg, um deines Namens willen wirst du mich führen und leiten,

31:4 Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.

31:5 mich befrein aus dem Netz, das man heimlich mir gestellt; denn du bist meine Schutzwehr.

31:5 Into thy hands I commend my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth.

31:6 In deine Hand befehl’ ich meinen Geist: du wirst mich erlösen, o HERR, du treuer Gott.

31:6 Thou hast hated them that regard vanities, to no purpose. But I have hoped in the Lord:

31:7 Du hassest, die sich an nichtige Götzen halten, doch ich vertraue auf den HERRN.

31:7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy. For thou hast regarded my humility, thou hast saved my soul out of distresses.

31:8 Ich will jubeln und fröhlich sein ob deiner Gnade, daß du mein Elend hast angeschaut, auf die Angst meiner Seele geachtet

31:8 And thou hast not shut me up in the hands of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a spacious place.

31:9 und mich der Gewalt des Feindes nicht preisgegeben, nein, meine Füße gestellt hast auf weiten Raum.

31:9 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted: my eye is troubled with wrath, my soul, and my belly:

31:10 Sei mir gnädig, o HERR, denn ich bin in Bedrängnis; getrübt vor Gram ist mir mein Auge, meine Seele und mein Leib;

31:10 For my life is wasted with grief: and my years in sighs. My strength is weakened through poverty and my bones are disturbed.

31:11 denn in Kummer verzehrt sich mein Leben und meine Jahre in Seufzen; erschöpft durch mein Verschulden ist meine Kraft, und verfallen sind meine Gebeine.

31:11 I am become a reproach among all my enemies, and very much to my neighbours; and a fear to my acquaintance. They that saw me without fled from me.

31:12 Für alle meine Feinde bin ich zum Hohn geworden, von meinen Nachbarn gemieden und ein Schrecken für meine Bekannten: wer mich sieht auf der Straße, flieht scheu vor mir.

31:12 I am forgotten as one dead from the heart. I am become as a vessel that is destroyed.

31:13 Entschwunden bin ich wie ein Toter dem Gedenken, bin geworden wie ein zerbrochnes Gefäß.

31:13 For I have heard the blame of many that dwell round about. While they assembled together against me, they consulted to take away my life.

31:14 Ich habe ja viele zischeln gehört: »Grauen ringsum!« Wenn sie vereint sich gegen mich beraten, sinnen sie darauf, mir das Leben zu rauben.

31:14 But I have put my trust in thee, O Lord: I said: Thou art my God.

31:15 Doch ich vertraue auf dich, o HERR; ich sage: »Nur du bist mein Gott.«

31:15 My lots are in thy hands. Deliver me out of the hands of my enemies; and from them that persecute me.

31:16 In deiner Hand steht meine Zeit: rette mich aus der Hand meiner Feinde und meiner Verfolger!

31:16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me in thy mercy.

31:17 Laß leuchten dein Angesicht über deinem Knecht, hilf mir durch deine Gnade!

31:17 Let me not be confounded, O Lord, for I have called upon thee. Let the wicked be ashamed, and be brought down to hell.

31:18 HERR, laß mich nicht enttäuscht werden, denn ich rufe dich an! Laß die Frevler enttäuscht werden, laß sie, zum Schweigen gebracht, in die Unterwelt fahren!

31:18 Let deceitful lips be made dumb. Which speak iniquity against the just, with pride and abuse.

31:19 Verstummen müssen die Lügenlippen, die Freches reden gegen den Gerechten in Hochmut und Verachtung!

31:19 O how great is the multitude of thy sweetness, O Lord, which thou hast hidden for them that fear thee! Which thou hast wrought for them that hope in thee, in the sight of the sons of men.

31:20 Wie groß ist deine Güte, die du vorbehältst denen, die dich fürchten, die du denen erzeigst, die ihre Zuflucht offen vor aller Welt zu dir nehmen!

31:20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy face, from the disturbance of men. Thou shalt protect them in thy tabernacle from the contradiction of tongues.

31:21 Du schirmst sie mit deines Angesichts Schirm vor den Bosheitsplänen der Menschen, birgst sie in einer Hütte vor der Anfeindung der Zungen.

31:21 Blessed be the Lord, for he hath shewn his wonderful mercy to me in a fortified city.

31:22 Gepriesen sei der HERR, daß er mir seine Gnade wunderbar hat erwiesen in einer festen Stadt!

31:22 But I said in the excess of my mind: I am cast away from before thy eyes. Therefore thou hast heard the voice of my prayer, when I cried to thee.

31:23 Ich zwar hatte gedacht in meiner Verzagtheit, ich sei verstoßen fern von deinen Augen; doch du hast mein lautes Flehen gehört, als ich zu dir rief.

31:23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord will require truth, and will repay them abundantly that act proudly.

31:24 Liebet den HERRN, ihr seine Frommen alle! Die Treuen behütet der HERR, vergilt aber reichlich dem, der Hochmut übt.

31:24 Do ye manfully, and let your heart be strengthened, all ye that hope in the Lord.

31:25 Seid stark, und euer Herz sei unverzagt, ihr alle, die ihr harret des HERRN!
