83:1 Ein Lied, ein Psalm Asaphs.

83:1 Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.

83:2 O Gott, halte dich nicht zurück, verharre nicht im Schweigen und bleibe nicht ruhig, o Gott!

83:2 For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

83:3 Denn siehe, deine Feinde toben, und die dich hassen, tragen das Haupt hoch!

83:3 They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.

83:4 Gegen dein Volk ersinnen sie einen Anschlag und beraten sich gegen deine Schutzbefohlnen;

83:4 They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.

83:5 sie sagen: »Kommt, wir wollen sie vertilgen als Volk: des Namens Israel soll man fürder nicht gedenken!«

83:5 For they have contrived with one consent: they have made a covenant together against thee,

83:6 Ja, sie haben einmütigen Sinns sich beraten, ein Bündnis gegen dich geschlossen:

83:6 The tabernacle of the Edomites, and the Ishmahelites: Moab, and the Agarens,

83:7 die Zelte Edoms und der Ismaeliter, Moab und die Hagriter,

83:7 Gebal, and Ammon and Amalec: the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre.

83:8 Gebal und Ammon und Amalek, das Philisterland samt den Bewohnern von Tyrus.

83:8 Yea, and the Assyrian also is joined with them: they are come to the aid of the sons of Lot.

83:9 Auch Assur hat sich zu ihnen gesellt, es leiht den Nachkommen Lots seinen Arm. SELA.

83:9 Do to them as thou didst to Madian and to Sisara: as to Jabin at the brook of Cisson.

83:10 Verfahre mit ihnen wie einst mit Midian, wie mit Sisera, wie mit Jabin am Bache Kison,

83:10 Who perished at Endor: and became as dung for the earth.

83:11 die bei Endor den Untergang fanden, mit ihren Leibern das Erdreich düngten!

83:11 Make their princes like Oreb, and Zeb, and Zebee, and Salmana. All their princes,

83:12 Mache sie, ihre Edlen, wie Oreb und Seeb, und wie Sebah und Zalmunna alle ihre Fürsten,

83:12 Who have said: Let us possess the sanctuary of God for an inheritance.

83:13 die gesprochen hatten: »Wir wollen für uns erobern die Fluren Gottes!«

83:13 O my God, make them like a wheel; and as stubble before the wind.

83:14 Mein Gott, mache sie gleich dem verwehten Laub, wie Spreu vor dem Winde!

83:14 As fire which burneth the wood: and as a flame burning mountains:

83:15 Wie Feuer, das den Wald verzehrt, wie Flammen, welche die Berge versengen:

83:15 So shalt thou pursue them with thy tempest: and shalt trouble them in thy wrath.

83:16 so verfolge sie mit deinem Sturm und schrecke sie mit deiner Windsbraut!

83:16 Fill their faces with shame; and they shall seek thy name, O Lord.

83:17 Laß Beschämung ihr Antlitz bedecken, auf daß sie nach deinem Namen fragen, o HERR!

83:17 Let them be ashamed and troubled for ever and ever: and let them be confounded and perish.

83:18 Laß sie beschämt und erschreckt sein für immer, in Schande geraten und vergehn!

83:18 And let them know that the Lord is thy name: thou alone art the most High over all the earth.

83:19 Sie müssen erkennen, daß du, dessen Name »HERR« ist, du allein der Höchste bist über die ganze Erde.
