11:1 And king Solomon loved many strange women, besides the daughter of Pharao, and women of Moab, and of Ammon, and of Edom, and of Sidon, and of the Hethites:

11:1 Der König Salomo liebte aber zahlreiche ausländische Frauen, nämlich neben der Tochter des Pharaos auch moabitische, ammonitische, edomitische, phönizische und hethitische,

11:2 Of the nations concerning which the Lord said to the children of Israel: You shall not go in unto them, neither shall any of them come into yours: for they will most certainly turn away your hearts to follow their gods. And to these was Solomon joined with a most ardent love.

11:2 also Frauen aus solchen Völkern, bezüglich deren der HERR den Israeliten geboten hatte: »Ihr sollt keinen ehelichen Verkehr mit ihnen haben, und sie sollen nicht mit euch verkehren, sie würden sonst sicherlich eure Herzen ihren Göttern zuwenden!« An diesen Frauen hing Salomo mit Vorliebe;

11:3 And he had seven hundred wives as queens, and three hundred concubines: and the women turned away his heart.

11:3 und zwar hatte er siebenhundert fürstliche Frauen und dreihundert Nebenweiber, und seine Frauen zogen sein Herz von dem HERRN ab.

11:4 And when he was now old, his heart was turned away by women to follow strange gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David, his father.

11:4 Als Salomo nämlich alt geworden war, wandten seine Frauen sein Herz anderen Göttern zu, so daß sein Herz dem HERRN, seinem Gott, nicht mehr ungeteilt ergeben war wie das Herz seines Vaters David.

11:5 But Solomon worshipped Astarthe, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Moloch, the idol of the Ammonites.

11:5 So verehrte er z.B. die phönizische Göttin Astarte und den greulichen Götzen der Ammoniter, Milkom;

11:6 And Solomon did that which was not pleasing before the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as David, his father.

11:6 und Salomo tat so, was dem HERRN mißfiel, indem er dem HERRN nicht volle Hingabe bewies wie sein Vater David.

11:7 Then Solomon built a temple for Chamos, the idol of Moab, on the hill that is over against Jerusalem, and for Moloch, the idol of the children of Ammon.

11:7 Damals baute Salomo für Kamos, den Götzen der Moabiter, ein Höhenheiligtum auf dem Berge östlich von Jerusalem, und ebenso für Moloch, den Götzen der Ammoniter;

11:8 And he did in this manner for all his wives that were strangers, who burnt incense, and offered sacrifice to their gods.

11:8 und dasselbe tat er für alle seine ausländischen Frauen, die ihren Göttern Rauch- und Schlachtopfer darbrachten.

11:9 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his mind was turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice;

11:9 So wurde denn der HERR zornig auf Salomo, weil er sein Herz vom HERRN, dem Gott Israels, abgewandt hatte, der ihm doch zweimal erschienen war

11:10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not follow strange gods: but he kept not the things which the Lord commanded him.

11:10 und ihm gerade dieses Gebot gegeben hatte, keine fremden Götter zu verehren; trotzdem hatte er dieses Gebot des HERRN unbeachtet gelassen.

11:11 The Lord therefore said to Solomon: Because thou hast done this, and hast not kept my covenant, and my precepts, which I have commanded thee, I will divide and rend thy kingdom, and will give it to thy servant.

11:11 Darum sagte der HERR zu Salomo: »Weil es soweit mit dir gekommen ist, daß du meinen Bund und meine Satzungen, die ich dir zur Pflicht gemacht habe, nicht mehr beachtest, so will ich dir das Königtum entreißen und es einem deiner Knechte geben.

11:12 Nevertheless, in thy days I will not do it, for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

11:12 Doch will ich es noch nicht bei deinen Lebzeiten tun um deines Vaters David willen; erst deinem Sohne will ich es entreißen.

11:13 Neither will I take away the whole kingdom; but I will give one tribe to thy son, for the sake of David, my servant, and Jerusalem, which I have chosen.

11:13 Doch will ich ihm nicht das ganze Reich entreißen; nein, einen Stamm will ich deinem Sohne geben um meines Knechtes David willen und um Jerusalems willen, das ich erwählt habe.«

11:14 And the Lord raised up an adversary to Solomon, Adad, the Edomite, of the king's seed, in Edom.

11:14 So ließ denn der HERR dem Salomo einen Widersacher erstehen in dem Edomiter Hadad, der aus dem Königsgeschlecht in Edom stammte.

11:15 For when David was in Edom, and Joab, the general of the army, was gone up to bury them that were slain, and had killed every male in Edom,

11:15 Als David nämlich die Edomiter besiegt hatte und der Feldhauptmann Joab hingezogen war, um die gefallenen Israeliten zu begraben, und er dabei alles, was männlichen Geschlechts in Edom war, niedermetzeln ließ –

11:16 (For Joab remained there six months with all Israel, till he had slain every male in Edom,)

11:16 denn ein halbes Jahr lang war Joab mit dem ganzen Heer der Israeliten dort geblieben, bis er alles, was männlichen Geschlechts in Edom war, ausgerottet hatte –,

11:17 Then Adad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants, with him, to go into Egypt: and Adad was then a little boy.

11:17 da entfloh Hadad mit mehreren Edomitern, die zu den Dienern seines Vaters gehört hatten, um sich nach Ägypten zu begeben; Hadad war aber damals noch ein kleiner Knabe.

11:18 And they arose out of Madian, and came into Pharan, and they took men with them from Pharan, and went into Egypt, to Pharao, the king of Egypt: who gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and assigned him land.

11:18 Sie machten sich also aus Midian auf und gelangten nach Paran; aus Paran nahmen sie dann Leute mit sich und kamen so nach Ägypten zum Pharao, dem ägyptischen Könige. Dieser gab ihm ein Haus und wies ihm seinen Unterhalt an und schenkte ihm auch ein Landgut.

11:19 And Adad found great favour before Pharao, insomuch that he gave him to wife the own sister of his wife, Taphnes, the queen.

11:19 Hadad gewann dann die Gunst des Pharaos in hohem Grade, so daß er ihm die Schwester seiner Gemahlin, die Schwester der Thachpenes, zur Frau gab.

11:20 And the sister of Taphnes bore him his son, Genubath; and Taphnes brought him up in the house of Pharao: and Genubath dwelt with Pharao among his children.

11:20 Diese Schwester der Thachpenes gebar ihm dann seinen Sohn Genubath, den sie im Palast des Pharaos erziehen ließ; und fortan lebte Genubath im Palast des Pharaos unter den Söhnen des Königs.

11:21 And when Adad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab, the general of the army, was dead, he said to Pharao: Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.

11:21 Als Hadad dann in Ägypten erfuhr, daß David sich zu seinen Vätern gelegt habe und daß auch der Feldhauptmann Joab tot sei, bat Hadad den Pharao: »Laß mich gehen, daß ich in meine Heimat ziehe!«

11:22 And Pharao said to him: Why, what is wanting to thee with me, that thou seekest to go to thy own country? But he answered: Nothing; yet I beseech thee to let me go.

11:22 Als ihn der Pharao fragte: »Was fehlt dir denn bei mir, daß du durchaus in deine Heimat ziehen willst?«, antwortete er: »Nichts! Doch du mußt mich ziehen lassen!«

11:23 God also raised up against him an adversary, Razon, the son of Eliada, who had fled from his master, Adarezer, the king of Soba.

11:23 Und Gott ließ dem Salomo noch einen andern Widersacher erstehen, nämlich Reson, den Sohn Eljadas, der aus der Umgebung Hadad-Esers, seines Herrn, des Königs von Zoba, entflohen war.

11:24 And he gathered men against him, and he became a captain of robbers, when David slew them of Soba: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt there, and they made him king in Damascus.

11:24 Dieser sammelte Leute um sich und wurde der Führer einer Freibeuterschar damals, als David das Blutbad unter den Syrern anrichtete. Er zog dann nach Damaskus, setzte sich dort fest, machte sich zum König in Damaskus

11:25 And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon: and this is the evil of Adad, and his hatred against Israel; and he reigned in Syria.

11:25 a und war ein Widersacher Israels, solange Salomo lebte.

11:26 Jeroboam also, the son of Nabat, an Ephrathite, of Sareda, a servant of Solomon, whose mother was named Sarua, a widow woman, lifted up his hand against the king.

11:26 Auch Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, ein Ephraimit aus Zereda, der Sohn einer Witwe namens Zerua, ein Beamter Salomos, empörte sich gegen den König;

11:27 And this is the cause of his rebellion against him; for Solomon built Mello, and filled up the breach of the city of David, his father.

11:27 und zwar war er folgendermaßen dazu gekommen, sich gegen den König zu empören: Salomo baute die Burg Millo aus, um die Lücke zu schließen, die an der Davidsstadt seines Vaters noch geblieben war.

11:28 And Jeroboam was a valiant and mighty man: and Solomon seeing him a young man ingenious and industrious, made him chief over the tributes of all the house of Joseph.

11:28 Nun war jener Jerobeam ein tüchtiger Mann, und als Salomo sah, wie eifrig der junge Mann bei der Arbeit war, machte er ihn zum Aufseher über die gesamten Fronarbeiten des Hauses Joseph.

11:29 So it came to pass at that time, that Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, and the prophet Ahias, the Silonite, clad with a new garment, found him in the way: and they two were alone in the field.

11:29 Damals begab es sich nun, als Jerobeam eines Tages Jerusalem verlassen hatte, daß ihn der Prophet Ahia von Silo unterwegs traf, der gerade einen neuen Mantel umhatte; und sie beide waren allein auf freiem Felde.

11:30 And Ahias taking his new garment, wherewith he was clad, divided it into twelve parts:

11:30 Da nahm Ahia den neuen Mantel, den er anhatte, zerriß ihn in zwölf Stücke

11:31 And he said to Jeroboam: Take to thee ten pieces: for thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give thee ten tribes.

11:31 und sagte zu Jerobeam: »Nimm dir zehn Stücke davon; denn so hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: ›Siehe, ich will das Reich der Hand Salomos entreißen und will dir zehn Stämme geben –

11:32 But one tribe shall remain to him for the sake of my servant, David, and Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:

11:32 aber den einen Stamm soll er behalten um meines Knechtes David willen und um Jerusalems willen, der Stadt, die ich aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt habe –,

11:33 Because he hath forsaken me, and hath adored Astarthe, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Chamos, the god of Moab, and Moloch, the god of the children of Ammon: and hath not walked in my ways, to do justice before me, and to keep my precepts, and judgments, as did David, his father.

11:33 zur Strafe dafür, daß er mich verlassen und sich vor Astarte, der Gottheit der Phönizier, vor Kamos, dem Gott der Moabiter, und vor Milkom, dem Gott der Ammoniter, niedergeworfen hat und nicht auf meinen Wegen gewandelt ist, um das zu tun, was mir wohlgefällt, und meine Satzungen und Rechte zu beobachten, wie sein Vater David es getan hat.

11:34 Yet I will not take away all the kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him prince all the days of his life, for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, who kept my commandments, and my precepts.

11:34 Doch will ich nicht ihm selbst die ganze Königsmacht entreißen, sondern will ihm, solange er lebt, die Herrschaft lassen um meines Knechtes David willen, den ich erwählt habe und der meine Gebote und Satzungen beobachtet hat.

11:35 But I will take away the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give thee ten tribes:

11:35 Aber seinem Sohne will ich das Königtum nehmen und es dir geben, nämlich zehn Stämme;

11:36 And to his son I will give one tribe, that there may remain a lamp for my servant, David, before me always in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen, that my name might be there.

11:36 seinem Sohne dagegen will ich nur einen einzigen Stamm geben, damit meinem Knecht David allezeit eine Leuchte vor mir verbleibe in Jerusalem, der Stadt, die ich mir erwählt habe, um meinen Namen daselbst dauernd wohnen zu lassen.

11:37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign over all that thy soul desireth, and thou shalt be king over Israel.

11:37 Dich aber will ich nehmen, damit du herrschest über alles, wonach du Verlangen trägst, und König über Israel seiest.

11:38 If then thou wilt hearken to all that I shall command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do what is right before me, keeping my commandments and my precepts, as David, my servant, did: I will be with thee, and will build thee up a faithful house, as I built a house for David, and I will deliver Israel to thee:

11:38 Wenn du dann allen meinen Befehlen nachkommst und auf meinen Wegen wandelst und das tust, was mir wohlgefällt, indem du meine Satzungen und meine Gebote beobachtest, wie mein Knecht David es getan hat, so will ich mit dir sein und dir ein Haus bauen, das Bestand haben soll, wie ich David ein solches gebaut habe, und will dir Israel übergeben;

11:39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but yet not for ever.

11:39 die Nachkommenschaft Davids aber will ich um deswillen demütigen, doch nicht für alle Zeiten.‹« –

11:40 Solomon, therefore, sought to kill Jeroboam: but he arose, and fled into Egypt, to Sesac, the king of Egypt, and was in Egypt till the death of Solomon.

11:40 Als Salomo dann dem Jerobeam nach dem Leben trachtete, machte dieser sich auf und floh nach Ägypten zu Sisak, dem König von Ägypten, und blieb in Ägypten bis zu Salomos Tode.

11:41 And the rest of the words of Solomon, and all that he did and his wisdom: behold they are all written in the book of the words of the days of Solomon.

11:41 Die übrige Geschichte Salomos aber und alle seine Taten und seine Weisheit, das findet sich bekanntlich schon aufgeschrieben im Buch der Denkwürdigkeiten Salomos.

11:42 And the days that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem, over all Israel, were forty years.

11:42 Die Zeit aber, während welcher Salomo in Jerusalem über ganz Israel geherrscht hat, betrug vierzig Jahre.

11:43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David, his father; and Roboam, his son, reigned in his stead.

11:43 Dann legte Salomo sich zu seinen Vätern und wurde in der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters, begraben. Sein Sohn Rehabeam folgte ihm in der Regierung nach.
