13:1 What I command thee, that only do thou to the Lord: neither add any thing, nor diminish.

13:1 »Alle Gebote, die ich euch zur Pflicht mache, sollt ihr gewissenhaft beobachten, ohne etwas hinzuzufügen oder etwas davon wegzulassen.« –

13:2 If there rise in the midst of thee a prophet or one that saith he hath dreamed a dream, and he foretell a sign and a wonder,

13:2 »Wenn in deiner Mitte ein Prophet oder ein Träumer auftritt und dir ein Zeichen oder Wunder angibt,

13:3 And that come to pass which he spoke, and he say to thee: Let us go and follow strange gods, which thou knowest not, and let us serve them:

13:3 das dann auch wirklich seiner Ankündigung entsprechend eintrifft, und hierauf die Aufforderung an dich richtet: ›Laßt uns andere Götter verehren – die dir bisher unbekannt gewesen sind – und ihnen dienen!‹,

13:4 Thou shalt not hear the words of that prophet or dreamer: for the Lord your God trieth you, that it may appear whether you love him with all your heart, and with all your soul, or not.

13:4 so sollst du den Worten eines solchen Propheten oder eines solchen Traumsehers kein Gehör schenken; denn der HERR, euer Gott, will euch damit nur auf die Probe stellen, um sich zu überzeugen, ob ihr wirklich den HERRN, euren Gott, von ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele liebt.

13:5 Follow the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and hear his voice: him you shall serve, and to him you shall cleave.

13:5 Dem HERRN, eurem Gott, sollt ihr nachfolgen und ihn fürchten, seine Gebote sollt ihr beobachten und auf seine Weisungen hören, ihm dienen und ihm anhangen!

13:6 And that prophet or forger of dreams shall be slain: because he spoke to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of bondage: to make thee go out of the way, which the Lord thy God commanded thee: and thou shalt take away the evil out of the midst of thee.

13:6 Jener Prophet aber oder jener Traumseher soll den Tod erleiden! Denn er hat Abfall gepredigt vom HERRN, eurem Gott, der euch aus dem Lande Ägypten herausgeführt und dich aus dem Hause der Knechtschaft erlöst hat, und ist darauf ausgegangen, dich von dem Wege abzubringen, auf dem du nach dem Gebot des HERRN, deines Gottes, wandeln sollst: schaffe das Böse aus deiner Mitte hinweg!

13:7 If thy brother the son of thy mother, or thy son, or daughter, or thy wife that is in thy bosom, or thy friend, whom thou lovest as thy own soul, would persuade thee secretly, saying: Let us go, and serve strange gods, which thou knowest not, nor thy fathers,

13:7 Wenn dein Bruder, sogar dein Vollbruder, oder dein Sohn oder deine Tochter oder das Weib an deinem Busen oder dein Freund, der dir so lieb ist wie dein eigenes Leben, dich insgeheim verleiten will, indem er dich auffordert: ›Laß uns hingehen und anderen Göttern dienen!‹ – solchen Göttern, die dir und deinen Vätern bisher unbekannt gewesen sind

13:8 Of all the nations round about, that are near or afar off, from one end of the earth to the other,

13:8 und die den Völkern rings um euch her angehören, mögen diese in deiner Nähe oder fern von dir wohnen, von dem einen Ende der Erde bis zum andern –:

13:9 Consent not to him, hear him not, neither let thy eye spare him to pity and conceal him,

13:9 so sollst du ihm nicht zu Willen sein und nicht auf ihn hören, sollst auch keinen Blick des Mitleids für ihn haben und keine Schonung gegen ihn üben oder seine Schuld verheimlichen,

13:10 But thou shalt presently put him to death. Let thy hand be first upon him, and afterwards the hands of all the people.

13:10 sondern sollst ihn unbedingt ums Leben bringen: deine Hand soll die erste sein, die sich gegen ihn erhebt, um ihm den Tod zu geben, und danach die Hand des ganzen Volkes;

13:11 With stones shall he be stoned to death: because he would have withdrawn thee from the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage:

13:11 und zwar sollst du ihn zu Tode steinigen; denn er ist darauf ausgegangen, dich vom HERRN, deinem Gott, abwendig zu machen, der dich aus dem Lande Ägypten, aus dem Hause der Knechtschaft, herausgeführt hat;

13:12 That all Israel hearing may fear, and may do no more any thing like this.

13:12 und ganz Israel soll Kunde davon erhalten und sich fürchten, damit keiner wieder etwas so Böses in deiner Mitte verübt.«

13:13 If in one of thy cities, which the Lord thy God shall give thee to dwell in, thou hear some say:

13:13 »Wenn du von einer deiner Ortschaften, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir zu Wohnsitzen gibt, sagen hörst,

13:14 Children of Belial are gone out of the midst of thee, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, and have said: Let us go, and serve strange gods which you know not:

13:14 es seien dort nichtswürdige Leute aus deiner Mitte aufgetreten, die ihre Mitbürger mit der Aufforderung verführt hätten: ›Laßt uns hingehen und anderen Göttern dienen!‹ – solchen Göttern, die euch vorher unbekannt gewesen sind –,

13:15 Inquire carefully and diligently, the truth of the thing by looking well into it, and if thou find that which is said to be certain, and that this abomination hath been really committed,

13:15 so sollst du eine genaue Untersuchung und sorgfältige Nachforschung anstellen, und wenn die Sache sich dann in der Tat so verhält, wie dir berichtet ist, und ein solcher Greuel in deiner Mitte wirklich verübt worden ist,

13:16 Thou shalt forthwith kill the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, and shalt destroy it and all things that are in it, even the cattle.

13:16 so sollst du die Bewohner der betreffenden Ortschaft mit der Schärfe des Schwertes schlagen, indem du an ihr und an allem, was in ihr ist, auch an ihrem Vieh, den Bann mit der Schärfe des Schwertes vollstreckst.

13:17 And all the household goods that are there, thou shalt gather together in the midst of the streets thereof, and shall burn them with the city itself, so as to comsume all for the Lord thy God, and that it be a heap for ever: it shall be built no more.

13:17 Dann sollst du alles in ihr Erbeutete auf dem dortigen Marktplatz zusammenhäufen und die Ortschaft samt der gesamten Beute als ein Ganzopfer für den HERRN, deinen Gott, verbrennen, und sie soll für immer ein Schutthaufen bleiben: sie darf nie wieder aufgebaut werden,

13:18 And there shall nothing of that anathema stick to thy hand: that the Lord may turn from the wrath of his fury, and may have mercy on thee, and multiply thee as he swore to thy fathers,

13:18 und von dem Banngut darf nichts an deiner Hand hängen bleiben, damit der HERR von seiner Zornglut wieder abläßt und sich dir gnädig erweist und infolge seines Erbarmens dich zahlreich werden läßt, wie er deinen Vätern zugeschworen hat,

13:19 When thou shalt hear the voice of the Lord thy God, keeping all his precepts, which I command thee this day, that thou mayst do what is pleasing in the sight of the Lord thy God.

13:19 wenn du nämlich auf die Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, hörst, indem du alle seine Gebote hältst, die ich dir heute zu befolgen gebiete, und du das tust, was vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, das Richtige ist.«
