25:1 The word that came to Jeremias concerning all the people of Juda, in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, (the same is the first year of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon,)

25:1 (Dies ist) das Wort, das an Jeremia über das ganze Volk Juda ergangen ist im vierten Regierungsjahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda – es war dies das erste Regierungsjahr Nebukadnezars, des Königs von Babylon –;

25:2 Which Jeremias the prophet spoke to all the people of Juda, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

25:2 der Prophet Jeremia hat dies Wort an das ganze Volk von Juda und an alle Einwohner Jerusalems gerichtet, indem er sprach:

25:3 From the thirteenth year of Josias the son of Ammon king of Juda until this day: this is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising before day, and speaking, and you have not hearkened.

25:3 »Seit dem dreizehnten Regierungsjahre Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda, bis auf den heutigen Tag, nun schon dreiundzwanzig Jahre lang, ist das Wort des HERRN an mich ergangen, und ich habe unermüdlich früh und spät zu euch geredet, aber ihr habt nicht darauf gehört.

25:4 And the Lord hath sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early, and sending, and you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ears to hear.

25:4 Dazu hat der HERR alle seine Knechte, die Propheten, unermüdlich früh und spät zu euch gesandt, aber ihr habt ihnen nicht gehorcht und ihnen kein Gehör geschenkt, um euch warnen zu lassen,

25:5 When he said: Return ye, every one from his evil way, and from your wicked devices, and you shall dwell in the land which the Lord hath given to you, and your fathers for ever and ever.

25:5 indem er euch sagen ließ: ›Kehrt doch um, ein jeder von seinem bösen Wandel und von seinem verwerflichen Tun, dann sollt ihr in dem Lande, das der HERR euch und euren Vätern gegeben hat, wohnen bleiben bis in alle Ewigkeit!

25:6 And go not after strange gods to serve them, and adore them: nor provoke me to wrath by the works of your hands, and I will not afflict you.

25:6 Lauft also nicht anderen Göttern nach, um ihnen zu dienen und sie anzubeten, und reizt mich nicht zum Zorn durch die Machwerke eurer Hände, damit ich kein Unglück über euch verhänge!

25:7 And you have not heard me, saith the Lord, that you might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, to your own hurt.

25:7 Aber ihr habt nicht auf mich gehört‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –, ›sondern habt mich geflissentlich zum Zorn gereizt durch die Machwerke eurer Hände, euch selbst zum Unheil.‹«

25:8 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts: Because you have not heard my words:

25:8 Darum hat der HERR der Heerscharen so gesprochen: »Zur Strafe dafür, daß ihr auf meine Worte nicht gehört habt,

25:9 Behold I will send, and take all the kindreds of the north, saith the Lord, and Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon my servant: and I will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all the nations that are round about it: and I will destroy them, and make them an astonishment and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

25:9 will ich nunmehr alle Völkerschaften des Nordens herbeiholen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN – »und an meinen Knecht Nebukadnezar, den König von Babylon, Botschaft senden und sie gegen dies Land und seine Bewohner und gegen alle diese Völker ringsum hereinbrechen lassen; und ich will den Bann über sie verhängen und sie zum Gegenstand des Entsetzens und des Spottes und zu ewigen Einöden machen;

25:10 And I will take away from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the mill and the light of the lamp.

25:10 und will unter ihnen jeder lauten Freude und Fröhlichkeit, jedem Bräutigamsjubel und jedem Brautgesang, dem Schall der Handmühlen und dem Licht der Lampen ein Ende machen.

25:11 And all this land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment: and all these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

25:11 Dieses ganze Land soll zur Einöde, zur Wüste werden, und diese Völkerschaften sollen dem Könige von Babylon dienstbar sein siebzig Jahre lang.

25:12 And when the seventy years shall be expired, I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans: and I will make it perpetual desolations.

25:12 Wenn aber die siebzig Jahre um sind, dann will ich auch am König von Babylon und an jenem Volk« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN – »das Strafgericht wegen ihrer Verschuldung vollziehen, auch am Lande der Chaldäer, und will es auf ewig zu Wüsteneien machen.

25:13 And I will bring upon that land all my words, that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book, all that Jeremias hath prophesied against all nations:

25:13 Ich will dann an jenem Lande alle meine Drohungen, die ich gegen dasselbe ausgesprochen habe, in Erfüllung gehen lassen, alles, was in diesem Buche geschrieben steht, was Jeremia über alle Völker geweissagt hat.

25:14 For they have served them, whereas they were many nations, and great kings: and I will repay them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their hands.

25:14 Denn sie sollen gleichfalls mächtigen Völkern und gewaltigen Königen dienstbar werden, und ich werde ihnen nach Verdienst und nach ihrem ganzen Tun vergelten.«

25:15 For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Take the cup of wine of this fury at my hand: and thou shalt make all the nations to drink thereof, into which I shall send thee.

25:15 Denn so hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, zu mir gesprochen: »Nimm diesen Becher voll Zornweins aus meiner Hand und laß alle Völker, zu denen ich dich senden werde, daraus trinken!

25:16 And they shall drink, and be troubled, and be mad because of the sword, which I shall send among them.

25:16 Sie sollen trinken, daß sie hin und her taumeln und in Tollheit rasen ob dem Schwert, das ich unter sie sende!«

25:17 And I took the cup at the hand of the Lord, and I presented it to all the nations to drink of it, to which the Lord sent me:

25:17 Da nahm ich den Becher aus der Hand des HERRN und ließ alle Völker daraus trinken, zu denen der HERR mich gesandt hatte:

25:18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Juda, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof: to make them a desolation, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a curse, as it is at this day.

25:18 Jerusalem und die anderen Städte Judas, ihre Könige und ihre Fürsten, um sie zur Einöde, zum abschreckenden Beispiel, zum Gegenstand des Spottes und zum Fluchwort zu machen, wie es heutzutage der Fall ist;

25:19 Pharao the king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people,

25:19 sodann den Pharao, den König von Ägypten, samt seinen Dienern und obersten Beamten und seinem ganzen Volk

25:20 And all in general: all the kings of the land of Ausitis, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ascalon, and Gaza, and Accaron, and the remnant of Azotus.

25:20 und das gesamte Völkergemisch dort; sodann alle Könige des Landes Uz und alle Könige des Philisterlandes, nämlich Askalon, Gaza, Ekron und den Überrest von Asdod;

25:21 And Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon.

25:21 Edom, Moab und die Ammoniter;

25:22 And all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon: and the kings of the land of the islands that are beyond the sea.

25:22 alle Könige von Tyrus, alle Könige von Sidon und die Könige der Küstenländer jenseits des Meeres;

25:23 And Dedan, and Thema, and Buz, and all that have their hair cut round.

25:23 ferner Dedan, Thema, Bus und alle, die sich das Haar an den Schläfen stutzen;

25:24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the west, that dwell in the desert.

25:24 sodann alle Könige von Arabien und alle Könige der Mischvölker, die in der Wüste wohnen;

25:25 And all the kings of Zambri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes:

25:25 ferner alle Könige von Simri und alle Könige von Elam und alle Könige von Medien;

25:26 And all the kings of the north far and near, every one against his brother: and all the kingdoms of the earth, which are upon the face thereof: and the king of Sesac shall drink after them.

25:26 sodann alle Könige des Nordens, die nahen wie die fernen, einen nach dem andern, überhaupt alle Königreiche der Welt, soviele ihrer auf dem ganzen Erdboden sind; der König von Sesach aber muß nach ihnen trinken.

25:27 And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken, and vomit: and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword, which I shall send among you.

25:27 »Du sollst dabei zu ihnen sagen: ›So hat der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: Trinkt, bis ihr trunken seid und euch erbrecht! Stürzt hin, ohne wieder aufzustehen – ob dem Schwert, das ich unter euch sende!‹

25:28 And if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Drinking you shall drink:

25:28 Sollten sie sich aber weigern, den Becher aus deiner Hand zu nehmen, um aus ihm zu trinken, so sollst du zu ihnen sagen: ›So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: Trinken müßt ihr dennoch!

25:29 For behold I begin to bring evil on the city wherein my name is called upon: and shall you be as innocent and escape free? you shall not escape free: for I will call for the sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.

25:29 Denn wisset wohl: Bei der Stadt, die nach meinem Namen genannt ist, habe ich mit dem Strafgericht den Anfang gemacht, und da solltet ihr frei ausgehen? Nein, ihr sollt nicht ungestraft bleiben; denn das Schwert biete ich gegen alle Bewohner der Erde auf!‹« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN der Heerscharen.

25:30 And thou shalt prophesy unto them all these words, and thou shalt say to them: I The Lord shall roar from on high, and shall utter his voice from his holy habitation: roaring he shall roar upon the place of his beauty: the shout as it were of them that tread grapes shall be given out against all the inhabitants of the earth.

25:30 »Du aber sollst bei der Verkündigung aller dieser Drohworte zu ihnen sagen: ›Der HERR brüllt aus der Höhe und läßt seine Stimme erschallen aus seiner heiligen Wohnstätte! Laut brüllt er über seine Aue hin, läßt ein Jauchzen erschallen wie die Keltertreter gegen alle Bewohner der Erde.

25:31 The noise is come even to the ends of the earth: for the Lord entereth into judgment with the nations: he entereth into judgment with all flesh; the wicked I have delivered up to the sword, saith the Lord.

25:31 Bis ans Ende der Erde dringt der Schall; denn der HERR geht mit den Völkern ins Gericht; er bringt seine Sache mit der ganzen Menschheit zum Austrag: die Gottlosen gibt er dem Schwerte preis!‹« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

25:32 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold evil shall go forth from nation to nation: and a great whirlwind shall go forth from the ends of the earth.

25:32 So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Fürwahr, Unheil schreitet von Volk zu Volk, und ein gewaltiger Sturm zieht heran von den Enden der Erde!«

25:33 And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end thereof: they shall not be lamented, and they shall not be gathered up, nor buried: they shall lie as dung upon the face of the earth.

25:33 An jenem Tage werden die vom HERRN Erschlagenen von einem Ende der Erde bis zum andern daliegen, unbetrauert und ohne aufgehoben und begraben zu werden: zu Dünger müssen sie auf offenem Felde werden.

25:34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry: and sprinkle yourselves with ashes, ye leaders of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and your dispersion are accomplished, and you shall fall like precious vessels.

25:34 »Heult, ihr Völkerhirten, und schreit! Und wälzt euch (in der Asche), ihr Führer der Herde! Denn eure Zeit ist erfüllt, daß man euch schlachte, und ich zerschmettere euch, daß ihr zu Boden fallen sollt wie kostbares Geschirr!«

25:35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the leaders of the flock to save themselves.

25:35 Da gibt es kein Entfliehen mehr für die Hirten und kein Entrinnen für die Führer der Herde.

25:36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the principal of the flock: because the Lord hath wasted their pastures.

25:36 Horch! Angstgeschrei der Hirten und Geheul der Führer der Herde! Denn der HERR verwüstet ihre Weide,

25:37 And the fields of peace have been silent because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

25:37 und verheert werden die friedlichen Auen vor dem lodernden Zorn des HERRN!

25:38 He hath forsaken his covert as the lion, for the land is laid waste because of the wrath of the dove, and because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

25:38 Wie ein Löwe hat er sein Dickicht verlassen: ach, ihr Land ist zur Wüste geworden vor dem verheerenden Schwert und vor seinem lodernden Zorn!
