6:1 And it came to pass on the second first sabbath that, as he went through the corn fields, his disciples plucked the ears and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

6:1 Es begab sich aber an einem Sabbat, daß er durch die Kornfelder wanderte; dabei pflückten seine Jünger Ähren ab, zerrieben sie in den Händen und aßen sie.

6:2 And some of the Pharisees said to them: Why do you that which is not lawful on the sabbath days?

6:2 Da sagten einige von den Pharisäern zu ihnen: »Warum tut ihr da etwas, das man am Sabbat nicht tun darf?«

6:3 And Jesus answering them, said: Have you not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was hungry and they that were with him:

6:3 Jesus antwortete ihnen: »Habt ihr auch davon nichts gelesen, was David getan hat, als ihn samt seinen Begleitern hungerte?

6:4 How he went into the house of God and took and ate the bread of proposition and gave to them that were with him, which is not lawful to eat but only for the priests?

6:4 Wie er da ins Gotteshaus hineinging, dort die Schaubrote nahm und sie aß und auch seinen Begleitern davon gab, obgleich doch niemand außer den Priestern sie essen darf?«

6:5 And he said to them: The Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

6:5 Er schloß mit den Worten: »Der Menschensohn ist Herr (auch) über den Sabbat.«

6:6 And it came to pass also, on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught. And there was a man whose right hand was withered.

6:6 An einem anderen Sabbat aber ging er in die Synagoge und lehrte. Dort war ein Mann, dessen rechter Arm verdorrt war.

6:7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched if he would heal on the sabbath: that they might find an accusation against him.

6:7 Da lauerten die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer ihm auf, ob er wohl am Sabbat heilen würde, um dann einen Grund zu einer Anklage gegen ihn zu haben;

6:8 But he knew their thoughts and said to the man who had the withered hand: Arise and stand forth in the midst. And rising he stood forth.

6:8 er aber kannte ihre Gedanken wohl. Er sagte nun zu dem Manne mit dem gelähmten Arm: »Stehe auf und tritt vor in die Mitte!« Jener stand auf und trat hin.

6:9 Then Jesus said to them: I ask you, if it be lawful on the sabbath days to do good or to do evil? To save life or to destroy?

6:9 Dann sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Ich frage euch: Darf man am Sabbat Gutes tun, oder soll man Böses tun? Darf man ein Leben erhalten, oder soll man es zugrunde gehen lassen?«

6:10 And looking round about on them all, he said to the man: Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth. And his hand was restored.

6:10 Nachdem er sie dann alle ringsum (zornig) angeblickt hatte, sagte er zu ihm: »Strecke deinen Arm aus!« Jener tat es, und sein Arm wurde wieder hergestellt.

6:11 And they were filled with madness: and they talked one with another, what they might do to Jesus.

6:11 Jene aber wurden ganz sinnlos vor Wut und besprachen sich miteinander, was sie Jesus antun könnten.

6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray: and he passed the whole night in the prayer of God.

6:12 Es begab sich aber in diesen Tagen, daß er hinausging auf den Berg, um zu beten, und er verbrachte dort die (ganze) Nacht im Gebet zu Gott.

6:13 And when day was come, he called unto him his disciples: and he chose twelve of them (whom also he named apostles):

6:13 Als es dann Tag geworden war, rief er seine Jünger zu sich und wählte zwölf aus ihnen aus, die er auch Apostel nannte:

6:14 Simon, whom he surnamed Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

6:14 Simon, den er auch Petrus nannte, und dessen Bruder Andreas; ferner Jakobus und Johannes, Philippus und Bartholomäus,

6:15 Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon who is called Zelotes,

6:15 Matthäus und Thomas, Jakobus, den Sohn des Alphäus, und Simon mit dem Beinamen ›der Eiferer‹,

6:16 And Jude the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who was the traitor.

6:16 Judas, den Sohn des Jakobus, und Judas Iskarioth, der (später) zum Verräter an ihm wurde.

6:17 And coming down with them, he stood in a plain place: and the company of his disciples and a very great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the sea coast, both of Tyre and Sidon,

6:17 Als er dann mit ihnen (vom Berge) wieder hinabgestiegen war, blieb er auf einem ebenen Platz stehen samt einer großen Schar seiner Jünger und einer zahlreichen Volksmenge aus dem ganzen jüdischen Lande, besonders aus Jerusalem, auch aus dem Küstenlande von Tyrus und Sidon.

6:18 Who were come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. And they that were troubled with unclean spirits were cured.

6:18 Alle diese waren gekommen, um ihn zu hören und sich von ihren Krankheiten heilen zu lassen; auch die von unreinen Geistern Geplagten fanden Heilung;

6:19 And all the multitude sought to touch him: for virtue went out from him and healed all.

6:19 und die ganze Volksmenge suchte ihn anzurühren, denn eine Kraft ging von ihm aus und heilte alle.

6:20 And he, lifting up his eyes on his disciples, said: Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

6:20 Da richtete er seine Augen auf seine Jünger und sagte: »Selig seid ihr Armen, denn euer Teil ist das Reich Gottes!

6:21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for you shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for you shall laugh.

6:21 Selig seid ihr, die ihr jetzt hungert, denn ihr werdet gesättigt werden! Selig seid ihr, die ihr jetzt weint, denn ihr werdet lachen!

6:22 Blessed shall you be when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

6:22 Selig seid ihr, wenn die Menschen euch hassen und wenn sie euch aus ihrer Gemeinschaft ausschließen und euch schmähen und euren Namen als ein Schimpfwort verwerfen um des Menschensohnes willen!

6:23 Be glad in that day and rejoice: for behold, your reward is great in heaven, For according to these things did their fathers to the prophets.

6:23 Freuet euch alsdann und jubelt! Denn wisset wohl: euer Lohn ist groß im Himmel. Ihre Väter haben ja an den Propheten ebenso gehandelt.

6:24 But woe to you that are rich: for you have your consolation.

6:24 Doch wehe euch Reichen, denn ihr habt euren Trost dahin!

6:25 Woe to you that are filled: for you shall hunger. Woe to you that now laugh: for you shall mourn and weep.

6:25 Wehe euch, die ihr jetzt satt seid, denn ihr werdet Hunger leiden! Wehe euch, die ihr jetzt lacht, denn ihr werdet trauern und weinen!

6:26 Woe to you when men shall bless you: for according to these things did their fathers to the false prophets.

6:26 Wehe euch, wenn alle Welt mit Lobesworten von euch redet! Ihre Väter haben ja an den falschen Propheten ebenso gehandelt.«

6:27 But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies. Do good to them that hate you.

6:27 »Euch aber, meinen Hörern, sage ich: Liebet eure Feinde, tut denen Gutes, die euch hassen,

6:28 Bless them that curse you and pray for them that calumniate you.

6:28 segnet die, welche euch fluchen, betet für die, welche euch anfeinden!

6:29 And to him that striketh thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that taketh away from thee thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also.

6:29 Wer dich auf die Wange schlägt, dem halte auch die andere hin, und wer dir den Mantel wegnimmt, dem verweigere auch den Rock nicht!

6:30 Give to every one that asketh thee: and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again.

6:30 Jedem, der dich (um etwas) bittet, dem gib, und wer dir das Deine nimmt, von dem fordere es nicht zurück!

6:31 And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner.

6:31 Und wie ihr von den Leuten behandelt werden wollt, ebenso behandelt auch ihr sie!

6:32 And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also love those that love them.

6:32 Denn wenn ihr (nur) die liebt, die euch lieben: welchen (Anspruch auf) Dank habt ihr dann? Auch die Sünder lieben ja die, welche ihnen Liebe erweisen.

6:33 And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also do this.

6:33 Und wenn ihr (nur) denen Gutes erweist, die euch Gutes tun: welchen (Anspruch auf) Dank habt ihr dann? Auch die Sünder tun dasselbe.

6:34 And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? For sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much.

6:34 Und wenn ihr denen leiht, von denen ihr (das Geliehene) zurückzuerhalten hofft: welchen (Anspruch auf) Dank habt ihr dann? Auch die Sünder leihen den Sündern, um ebensoviel zurückzuerhalten.

6:35 But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

6:35 Nein, liebet eure Feinde, tut Gutes und leihet aus, ohne etwas zurückzuerwarten! Dann wird euer Lohn groß sein, und ihr werdet Söhne des Höchsten sein; denn er ist gütig (auch) gegen die Undankbaren und Bösen.

6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

6:36 Seid barmherzig, wie euer Vater barmherzig ist!«

6:37 Judge not: and you shall not be judged. Condemn not: and you shall not be condemned. Forgive: and you shall be forgiven.

6:37 »Und richtet nicht, dann werdet ihr auch nicht gerichtet werden; und verurteilt nicht, dann werdet ihr auch nicht verurteilt werden; laßt (eure Schuldner) frei, dann werdet ihr auch freigelassen werden.

6:38 Give: and it shall be given to you: good measure and pressed down and shaken together and running over shall they give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you shall mete withal, it shall be measured to you again.

6:38 Gebt, dann wird auch euch gegeben werden: ein reichliches, festgedrücktes, gerütteltes und übervolles Maß wird man euch in den Schoß schütten; denn mit demselben Maß, mit dem ihr zumeßt, wird euch wieder zugemessen werden.« –

6:39 And he spoke also to them a similitude: Can the blind lead the blind? Do they not both fall into the ditch?

6:39 Er legte ihnen dann auch ein Gleichnis vor: »Kann wohl ein Blinder einen Blinden führen? Werden sie nicht beide in die Grube fallen?

6:40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one shall be perfect, if he be as his master.

6:40 Der Jünger steht nicht über seinem Meister: jeder (Jünger) wird, wenn er völlig ausgebildet ist, immer nur wie sein Meister sein.

6:41 And why seest thou the mote in thy brother's eye: but the beam that is in thy own eye thou considerest not?

6:41 Was siehst du aber den Splitter im Auge deines Bruders, während du den Balken in deinem eignen Auge nicht wahrnimmst?

6:42 Or how canst thou say to thy brother: Brother, let me pull the mote out of thy eye, when thou thyself seest not the beam in thy own eye? Hypocrite, cast first the beam out of thy own eye: and then shalt thou see clearly to take out the mote from thy brother's eye.

6:42 Oder wie darfst du zu deinem Bruder sagen: ›Bruder, laß mich den Splitter, der in deinem Auge steckt, herausziehen‹, während du den Balken in deinem eignen Auge nicht gewahrst? Du Heuchler! Ziehe zuerst den Balken aus deinem Auge, dann magst du zusehen, daß du den Splitter herausziehst, der im Auge deines Bruders steckt.«

6:43 For there is no good tree that bringeth forth evil fruit: nor an evil tree that bringeth forth good fruit.

6:43 »Denn es gibt keinen guten Baum, der schlechte Früchte bringt, und umgekehrt keinen schlechten Baum, der gute Früchte bringt.

6:44 For every tree is known by its fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns: nor from a bramble bush do they gather the grape.

6:44 Jeden Baum erkennt man ja an seinen Früchten; denn von Dornen sammelt man keine Feigen, und von einem Dornbusch kann man keine Trauben lesen.

6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

6:45 Ein guter Mensch bringt aus der guten Schatzkammer seines Herzens das Gute hervor, während ein böser Mensch aus der bösen (Schatzkammer seines Herzens) das Böse hervorbringt; denn wovon das Herz voll ist, davon redet sein Mund.«

6:46 And why call you me, Lord, Lord; and do not the things which I say?

6:46 »Was nennt ihr mich aber ›Herr, Herr!‹ und tut doch nicht, was ich (euch) sage?

6:47 Every one that cometh to me and heareth my words and doth them, I will shew you to whom he is like.

6:47 Wer zu mir kommt und meine Worte hört und nach ihnen tut – ich will euch zeigen, wem der zu vergleichen ist:

6:48 He is like to a man building a house, who digged deep and laid the foundation upon a rock. And when a flood came, the stream beat vehemently upon that house: and it could not shake it: for it was founded on a rock.

6:48 Er gleicht einem Manne, der, als er ein Haus bauen wollte, bis in die Tiefe ausgraben ließ und die Grundmauer auf den Felsen legte. Als nun Hochwasser kam, stieß die Flut an jenes Haus, vermochte es aber wegen seiner festen Bauart nicht zu erschüttern.

6:49 But he that heareth and doth not is like to a man building his house upon the earth without a foundation: against which the stream beat vehemently. And immediately it fell: and the ruin of that house was great.

6:49 Wer aber (meine Worte) hört und nicht nach ihnen tut, der gleicht einem Manne, der ein Haus ohne feste Grundmauer auf den (lockeren) Erdboden baute. Als dann die Flut dagegen stieß, stürzte es sogleich in sich zusammen, und der Einsturz dieses Hauses war gewaltig.«
