81:1 exultate Deo adiutori nostro iubilate Deo Iacob

81:1 Rejoice to God our helper: sing aloud to the God of Jacob.

81:2 sumite psalmum et date tympanum psalterium iucundum cum cithara

81:2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel: the pleasant psaltery with the harp.

81:3 bucinate in neomenia tuba in insigni die sollemnitatis nostrae

81:3 Blow up the trumpet on the new moon, on the noted day of your solemnity.

81:4 quia praeceptum Israhel est et iudicium Dei Iacob

81:4 For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob.

81:5 testimonium in Ioseph posuit illud cum exiret de terra Aegypti linguam quam non noverat audivit

81:5 He ordained it for a testimony in Joseph, when he came out of the land of Egypt: he heard a tongue which he knew not.

81:6 devertit ab oneribus dorsum eius manus eius in cofino servierunt

81:6 He removed his back from the burdens: his hands had served in baskets.

81:7 in tribulatione invocasti me et liberavi te exaudivi te in abscondito tempestatis probavi te apud aquam Contradictionis diapsalma

81:7 Thou calledst upon me in affliction, and I delivered thee: I heard thee in the secret place of tempest: I proved thee at the waters of contradiction.

81:8 audi populus meus et contestabor te Israhel si audias me

81:8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify to thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken to me,

81:9 non erit in te deus recens nec adorabis deum alienum

81:9 There shall be no new god in thee: neither shalt thou adore a strange god.

81:10 ego enim sum Dominus Deus tuus qui eduxi te de terra Aegypti dilata os tuum et implebo illud

81:10 For I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

81:11 et non audivit populus meus vocem meam et Israhel non intendit mihi

81:11 But my people heard not my voice: and Israel hearkened not to me.

81:12 et dimisi illos secundum desideria cordis eorum ibunt in adinventionibus suis

81:12 So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions.

81:13 si populus meus audisset me Israhel si in viis meis ambulasset

81:13 If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:

81:14 pro nihilo forsitan inimicos eorum humiliassem et super tribulantes eos misissem manum meam

81:14 I should soon have humbled their enemies, and laid my hand on them that troubled them.

81:15 inimici Domini mentiti sunt ei et erit tempus eorum in saeculo

81:15 The enemies of the Lord have lied to him: and their time shall be for ever.

81:16 et cibavit illos ex adipe frumenti et de petra melle saturavit illos

81:16 And he fed them with the fat of wheat, and filled them with honey out of the rock.
