114:1 Halleluja! Als Israel aus Ägypten auszog, Jakobs Haus aus dem Volk fremder Sprache,

114:1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a barbarous people:

114:2 da ward Juda sein Heiligtum, Israel sein Herrschaftsgebiet.

114:2 Judea was made his sanctuary, Israel his dominion.

114:3 Das Meer sah es und floh, der Jordan wandte sich rückwärts,

114:3 The sea saw and fled: Jordan was turned back.

114:4 die Berge hüpften wie Widder, die Hügel gleichwie Lämmer.

114:4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the hills like the lambs of the flock.

114:5 Was war dir, o Meer, daß du flohest, dir, Jordan, daß du dich rückwärts wandtest?

114:5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee: and thou, O Jordan, that thou wast turned back?

114:6 (Was war euch) ihr Berge, daß ihr hüpftet wie Widder, ihr Hügel gleichwie Lämmer?

114:6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams, and ye hills, like lambs of the flock?

114:7 Vor dem Anblick des Herrn erbebe, du Erde, vor dem Anblick des Gottes Jakobs,

114:7 At the presence of the Lord the earth was moved, at the presence of the God of Jacob:

114:8 der Felsen wandelt zum Wasserteich, Kieselgestein zum sprudelnden Quell!

114:8 Who turned the rock into pools of water, and the stony hill into fountains of waters.
