32:1 Von David; ein Lehrgedicht. Wohl dem, dessen Missetat vergeben und dessen Sünde zugedeckt ist!

32:1 To David himself, understanding. Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

32:2 Wohl dem Menschen, dem der HERR die Schuld nicht zurechnet und in dessen Geist kein Trug wohnt!

32:2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord hath not imputed sin, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

32:3 Solange ich Schweigen übte, verzehrte sich mein Leib, weil es unaufhörlich in mir schrie;

32:3 Because I was silent my bones grew old; whilst I cried out all the day long.

32:4 denn bei Tag und bei Nacht lag schwer auf mir deine Hand: mein Lebenssaft verdorrte wie durch Sommergluten. SELA.

32:4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: I am turned in my anguish, whilst the thorn is fastened.

32:5 Da bekannte ich dir meine Sünde und verhehlte meine Verschuldung nicht; ich sagte: »Bekennen will ich dem HERRN meine Missetaten!« Da hast du mir meine Sündenschuld vergeben. SELA.

32:5 I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against my self my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

32:6 Darum möge jeder Fromme zu dir beten, solange du dich finden läßt; wenn dann gewaltige Fluten daherstürzen – ihn werden sie nicht erreichen.

32:6 For this shall every one that is holy pray to thee in a seasonable time. And yet in a flood of many waters, they shall not come nigh unto him.

32:7 Du bist mir ein Schirm, bewahrst mich vor Unheil: mit Rettungsjubel du wirst mich umgeben. SELA.

32:7 Thou art my refuge from the trouble which hath encompassed me: my joy, deliver me from them that surround me.

32:8 »Ich will dich unterweisen und dich lehren den Weg, den du wandeln sollst; ich will dich beraten, mein Auge auf dich richten.

32:8 I will give thee understanding, and I will instruct thee in this way, in which thou shalt go: I will fix my eyes upon thee.

32:9 Seid nicht dem Roß, dem Maultier gleich, die keinen Verstand besitzen; mit Zaum und Gebiß mußt du brechen ihren Trotz, sonst kommen sie nicht zu dir.«

32:9 Do not become like the horse and the mule, who have no understanding. With bit and bridle bind fast their jaws, who come not near unto thee.

32:10 Zahlreich sind die Leiden des Gottlosen; doch wer auf den HERRN vertraut, den wird er mit Gnade umgeben.

32:10 Many are the scourges of the sinner, but mercy shall encompass him that hopeth in the Lord.

32:11 Freuet euch des HERRN und frohlockt, ihr Gerechten, und jubelt, ihr redlich Gesinnten alle!

32:11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye just, and glory, all ye right of heart.
