118:1 Give praise to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

118:1 Danket dem HERRN, denn er ist freundlich, ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!

118:2 Let Israel now say, that he is good: that his mercy endureth for ever.

118:2 So bekenne denn Israel: »Ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!«

118:3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

118:3 So bekenne denn Aarons Haus: »Ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!«

118:4 Let them that fear the Lord now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

118:4 So mögen denn alle Gottesfürcht’gen bekennen: »Ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!«

118:5 In my trouble I called upon the Lord: and the Lord heard me, and enlarged me.

118:5 Aus meiner Bedrängnis rief ich zum HERRN: da hat der HERR mich erhört, mir weiten Raum geschafft.

118:6 The Lord is my helper: I will not fear what man can do unto me.

118:6 Ist der HERR für mich, so fürchte ich nichts: was können Menschen mir tun?

118:7 The Lord is my helper: and I will look over my enemies.

118:7 Tritt der HERR für mich zu meiner Hilfe ein, so werde ich siegreich jubeln über meine Feinde.

118:8 It is good to confide in the Lord, rather than to have confidence in man.

118:8 Besser ist’s auf den HERRN vertrauen als auf Menschen sich verlassen;

118:9 It is good to trust in the Lord, rather than to trust in princes.

118:9 besser ist’s auf den HERRN vertrauen als auf Fürsten sich verlassen.

118:10 All nations compassed me about; and, in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.

118:10 Die Heidenvölker alle hatten mich umringt: im Namen des HERRN, so vertilgte ich sie;

118:11 Surrounding me they compassed me about: and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.

118:11 sie hatten mich umringt, umzingelt: im Namen des HERRN, so vertilgte ich sie;

118:12 They surrounded me like bees, and they burned like fire among thorns: and in the name of the Lord I was revenged on them.

118:12 sie hatten mich umringt wie Bienenschwärme; schnell wie ein Dornenfeuer sind sie erloschen: im Namen des HERRN, so vertilgte ich sie.

118:13 Being pushed I was overturned that I might fall: but the Lord supported me.

118:13 Man hat mich hart gestoßen, damit ich fallen sollte, doch der HERR hat mir geholfen.

118:14 The Lord is my strength and my praise: and he is become my salvation.

118:14 Meine Stärke und mein Lobpreis ist der HERR, und er ist mein Retter geworden.

118:15 The voice of rejoicing and of salvation is in the tabernacles of the just.

118:15 Jubel und Siegeslieder erschallen in den Zelten der Gerechten: »Die Hand des HERRN schafft mächtige Taten,

118:16 The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: the right hand of the Lord hath exalted me: the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength.

118:16 die Hand des HERRN erhöht, die Hand des HERRN schafft mächtige Taten!«

118:17 I shall not die, but live: and shall declare the works of the Lord.

118:17 Ich werde nicht sterben, nein, ich werde leben und die Taten des HERRN verkünden.

118:18 The Lord chastising hath chastised me: but he hath not delivered me over to death.

118:18 Der HERR hat mich hart gezüchtigt, doch dem Tode mich nicht preisgegeben.

118:19 Open ye to me the gates of justice: I will go in to them, and give praise to the Lord.

118:19 Öffnet mir die Tore der Gerechtigkeit: ich will durch sie eingehn, dem HERRN zu danken. –

118:20 This is the gate of the Lord, the just shall enter into it.

118:20 Dies ist das Tor des HERRN: Gerechte dürfen hier eingehn. –

118:21 I will give glory to thee because thou hast heard me: and art become my salvation.

118:21 Ich danke dir, daß du mich erhört hast und bist mir ein Retter geworden.

118:22 The stone which the builders rejected; the same is become the head of the corner.

118:22 Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, der ist zum Eckstein geworden;

118:23 This is the Lord's doing, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

118:23 vom HERRN ist dies geschehn, in unsern Augen ein Wunder!

118:24 This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us be glad and rejoice therein.

118:24 Dies ist der Tag, den der HERR gemacht hat: laßt uns jubeln und fröhlich an ihm sein! –

118:25 O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success.

118:25 Ach hilf doch, HERR, ach, HERR, laß wohl gelingen! –

118:26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord. We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.

118:26 Gesegnet sei, der da kommt im Namen des HERRN! Wir segnen euch vom Hause des HERRN aus.

118:27 The Lord is God, and he hath shone upon us. Appoint a solemn day, with shady boughs, even to the horn of the altar.

118:27 Der HERR ist Gott, er hat uns Licht gegeben: schlinget den Reigen, mit Zweigen (geschmückt), bis an die Hörner des Altars!

118:28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, and I will exalt thee. I will praise thee, because thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

118:28 Du bist mein Gott, ich will dir danken; mein Gott, ich will dich erheben!

118:29 O praise ye the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
