5:1 Unto the end, for her that obtaineth the inheritance. A psalm for David.

5:1 Dem Musikmeister, nach (der Singweise = Melodie) »die Erbschaften«; ein Psalm von David.

5:2 Give ear, O Lord, to my words, understand my cry.

5:2 Vernimm meine Worte, o HERR, merke auf mein Seufzen!

5:3 Hearken to the voice of my prayer, O my King and my God.

5:3 Ach, hör’ auf mein lautes Flehen, mein König und mein Gott; denn zu dir geht mein Gebet!

5:4 For to thee will I pray: O Lord, in the morning thou shalt hear my voice.

5:4 O HERR, in der Frühe schon hörst du mein Rufen, in der Frühe schon richte ich dir (ein Opfer) zu und spähe aus (nach dir).

5:5 In the morning I will stand before thee, and I will see: because thou art not a God that willest iniquity.

5:5 Du bist ja nicht ein Gott, dem gottlos Wesen gefällt: kein Böser darf als Gast bei dir weilen;

5:6 Neither shall the wicked dwell near thee: nor shall the unjust abide before thy eyes.

5:6 Ruhmredige dürfen dir nicht vor die Augen treten: du hassest alle Übeltäter.

5:7 Thou hatest all the workers of iniquity: thou wilt destroy all that speak a lie. The bloody and the deceitful man the Lord will abhor.

5:7 Du läßt die Lügner zugrunde gehn; wer mit Blutvergießen und Trug sich befaßt, den verabscheut der HERR.

5:8 But as for me in the multitude of thy mercy, I will come into thy house; I will worship towards thy holy temple, in thy fear.

5:8 Ich aber darf nach deiner großen Gnade dein Haus betreten, ich darf vor deinem heiligen Tempel in Ehrfurcht vor dir mich niederwerfen.

5:9 Conduct me, O Lord, in thy justice: because of my enemies, direct my way in thy sight.

5:9 HERR, leite mich in deiner Gerechtigkeit um meiner Feinde willen, ebne vor mir deinen Weg!

5:10 For there is no truth in their mouth: their heart is vain.

5:10 Denn in ihrem Mund ist keine Aufrichtigkeit, ihr Inneres ist Bosheit; ein offnes Grab ist ihre Kehle, mit ihrer Zunge reden sie glatte Worte.

5:11 Their throat is an open sepulchre: they dealt deceitfully with their tongues: judge them, O God. Let them fall from their devices: according to the multitude of their wickednesses cast them out: for they have provoked thee, O Lord.

5:11 Laß sie büßen, o Gott, daß zu Fall sie kommen durch ihre Anschläge! Stoße sie weg von dir ob der Menge ihrer Frevel, denn sie haben dir Trotz geboten!

5:12 But let all them be glad that hope in thee: they shall rejoice for ever, and thou shalt dwell in them. And all they that love thy name shall glory in thee.

5:12 Dann werden alle sich freun, die auf dich vertrauen: allzeit werden sie jubeln, daß du sie beschirmst; und frohlocken werden alle über dich, die deinen Namen lieben.

5:13 For thou wilt bless the just. O Lord, thou hast crowned us, as with a shield of thy good will.

5:13 Denn du, HERR, segnest den Gerechten, schirmst ihn mit (deiner) Gnade wie mit einem Schilde.
