52:1 Dem Musikmeister; ein Lehrgedicht Davids,

52:1 Unto the end, for Maeleth, understandings to David. The fool said in his heart: There is no God.

52:2 als der Edomiter Doeg kam und dem Saul die Meldung brachte, David sei in das Haus Ahimelechs gekommen.

52:2 All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.

52:3 Was rühmst du dich der Bosheit, du Gewaltmensch? Gottes Gnade währet alle Zeit.

52:3 Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.

52:4 Auf Unheil sinnt deine Zunge wie ein scharfes Schermesser, du Ränkeschmied!

52:4 Thou hast loved all the words of ruin, O deceitful tongue.

52:5 Du liebst das Böse mehr als das Gute, sprichst lieber Lügen als Gerechtigkeit. SELA.

52:5 Therefore will God destroy thee for ever: he will pluck thee out, and remove thee from thy dwelling place: and thy root out of the land of the living.

52:6 Du liebst nur unheilvolle Reden, du trügerische Zunge!

52:6 The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say:

52:7 So wird denn Gott dich auch vernichten für immer, dich wegraffen und herausreißen aus dem Zelt, dich entwurzeln aus der Lebenden Land! SELA.

52:7 Behold the man that made not God his helper: But trusted in the abundance of his riches: and prevailed in his vanity.

52:8 Die Gerechten werden es sehn und sich fürchten, über ihn aber spotten:

52:8 But I, as a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God for ever, yea for ever and ever.

52:9 »Seht, das ist der Mann, der nicht Gott zu seiner Schutzwehr machte, vielmehr sich verließ auf seinen großen Reichtum und stark sich dünkte durch seine Bosheit!«

52:9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.

52:10 Ich aber bin wie ein grünender Ölbaum im Hause Gottes, ich vertraue auf Gottes Gnade immer und ewig.

52:11 Preisen will ich dich immer, denn du hast’s vollführt, will rühmen deinen Namen, daß er so herrlich ist, vor deinen Frommen.
