San Norberto fue un noble alemán que fundó la Orden Premonstratense (Norbertinos) alrededor de 1120. Tras una dramática conversión durante una tormenta, abandonó su vida cómoda, se ordenó sacerdote y se convirtió en predicador itinerante. Más tarde fue Arzobispo de Magdeburgo.
