Der heilige Franz von Assisi, 1181 als Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone geboren, gründete den Franziskanerorden. Nach einer Jugend in Wohlstand erlebte er eine tiefe Bekehrung und widmete sich radikaler Armut und der Nachfolge Christi.
